Economic Development

God has blessed and gifted us with the ability to develop our own economic base.  With our Church Family and within the Church Community, we have people who have the skills, talents, and resources to be a strong economic base in the community.  While we complain about the goods and services we receive from others, we have the same opportunity as others to be our own bosses, to have our own businesses, to employ our own people and to be a strong financial and resourceful people.

Christians must lead the way in showing the world how to be business-minded and how to conduct themselves in a business manner.  Many of the things that we go outside of our community for, can be secured not only in our community, but also in our church.  I believe that the church must lead the way in developing a strong economic base for our people.

God wants us to be a resourceful people, who are about the business of providing services and goods for the enhancement of human life.  We must provide job opportunities for our people, especially our young people.  We must lead the way in providing what Jesus calls abundant life.  Jesus says in John 10:10: “I am come that they have life, and that they have it more abundantly”.  With much prayer, teaching and training, I believe it can be done.  Thus, my vision for economic development is as follows.

  • To build a Mall (The St. John Plaza) where members of the church, and church community can provide services and goods, employ and empower its people, and provide a standard leading the way in honesty, integrity, and courtesy in business.

Within our own congregation we have:

Beauticians and Barbers

Plumbers

Insurance Brokers

Hardware Owners

Restaurant Owners

Real Estate Investors

Construction Persons`

Store Managers

Electricians

Auto Sales Resource Persons

These are only a few examples of what we have.  How powerful we would be if all of those and others would come under one umbrella maintaining their individualities, while at the same time employing our people and working together for the good of mankind.

  • My Vision is to have twenty-five fully employed staff members by 2010.

I believe that the development of a strong church is the result of having capable and qualified people to function, who do not have divided loyalties.  You can demand more from people when you relieve them of their physical cares and concerns.

  • My Vision is to be able to employ all graduating high school students, assisting them in their preparation for college.

  • My Vision is to have a Job Referral Program to assist college graduates in locating jobs and job opportunities once they graduate from college.

  • My Vision is to have a Job Referral Program to aid and assist members of the Church in finding jobs.

  • My Vision is to provide a Job Preparation Program that will teach, train, and prepare people in the skills needed to become employable.
